For the next thirty-six minutes, you are a young man on life-support. You have just turned twenty-four years old. Lying next to you is the man responsible for your situation.
In all likelihood, he will wake up before your story unfolds. The only way you are able to see your loved ones is through your frequent, comatose visions. In thirty-four minutes and 29 seconds, you will flat line.
Thus begins the forthcoming “As Your Shoulders Turn on You” album from New York rock band The Cast Before the Break. Bucking the trend of the usual scream-laden rock, TCBTB have made a finely tuned concept album which embodies the traits of Asian horror by building up tension strategically with intelligently woven free-flowing tracks rather than opting for cheap thrills.
In honour of this, we are pleased to bring you Strange Glue's first video interview. The boys have also given us an exclusive non-album version of their song “Understanding the Universe” for you all to listen to. Following that is their commentary on the album, track by track. For more information on the band, have a look at their MySpace page.

"As Your Shoulders Turn On You"
Track-by-track commentary
Written by
The Cast Before the Break
1.) “Onward, Love” is the declaration of your life as it hangs preciously in the balance. You were an instrument to your own destruction, giving in to the hatred and doubt that filled your life until this point. But, you cling to the belief that love might still bring salvation, even as you tip dangerously towards death.
2.) “From the Earth, at a Crossroad” presents the scene of the accident. You realize what has happened: a drunk driver collided with your car, sending you into the coma. Your visions are skewed; instead of the driver, you see the devil, himself, causing the horrible wreck. Angels surround the sides of the road, but do nothing to help. You curse the religion that you've held all your life, thinking it has abandoned you in your hour of need.
3.) “Agnosia” explores the other aspects of your life. You search your mind for loving faces of the past for comfort, but realize they have faded. Despite the difficulty to remember, there is one face that becomes clear: your sister, Hope. She is the crucial figure keeping you from death.
4.) “Understanding the Universe” are your attempts to comprehend life. You dwell on the pain people inflict on each other, especially through wars and bloodshed. Even though you find comfort in visions of your former loved ones, loneliness begins to set in.
5.) “Cerca Trova” reveals the memories you had lost. Your love is gone due to your own consumption by self-pity and hate. You are left a broken matchstick man, and you are horrified at what you have become. The car crash was just a physical representation of the life you had already given up. You know your soul is already lost, and now you have found death.
6.) “Relying on a Respirator” is the declaration of your death as it creeps closer to fruition. You see the face of your mother weeping over your body. You have been given one last chance at redemption. But, in your mind it is too late. You ignore her cries and instead focus on the body of the drunk driver who is also on a respirator beside you. You embrace revenge, as your final thoughts are consumed by pulling his plug. After all, we'll all be devils soon.

Turn up the volume, because this is your story and it deserves to be heard.
Why are you dead? Why are you sleeping?
