If you're in the age bracket of 27 to 35, you very likely grew up with the sounds of Hefner being joyfully played out of your Sony Walkman.

We still remember the day we heard tracks like 'The Sad Witch' and 'The Librarian' and laughing joyously as we sung along to Darren Hayman's sparkling lyrical prose.

Fast forward ten years and iPods and folk music have taken over, but Darren Hayman is still churning out some witty folk (thank goodness he ceased and desisted with the electronica).

Continually plagued by a wasp that seemed intent on going into he mouth, he still proved he could make an audience laugh. After dedicating a song to the organisers to say thanks for inviting them back, he said: "This is a song about dogging in Essex" to uproarious laughter.

Let's just hope he gets invited back again.
