The Low Anthem are continually compared to label-mates Fleet Foxes. And although the money-men may spin that yarn as much as possible the reality is that the Low Anthem are actually much better than their American compatriots.

Flexible enough to interchange instruments at will, the band's output switches between acoustic folk-pop to a more raucous fan-fare.

Frontman Ben Knox Miller is most impressive as he meticulously crafts shimmering hooks, gentle harmonies and cleverly scripted narratives.

There's no doubt that The Low Anthem possess a sense of adventure that is sorely missing much of today's folk borefest.

It's just a shame that most of the audience were sat amongst a sea of deckchairs that would put Brighton's promenade to shame.
