The long threatened monsoon rain was falling on Latitude festival inside the Uncut arena Manchester Orchestra were tuning up in a few moments of relative calm.

The band's choice of set today was unusual, there was just a single track from their masterpiece of a (proper) debut album 'I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child' - that was 'Now That Your Home' which was seemingly chosen for its ability to blend with the new tracks.

From the new album there was set-opener Shake It Out which was raw and succinct, through to a rather stretched version of the album's title track - 'Mean Everything To Nothing.'

Obviously constrained by the time limits the band didn't have time to make any new converts here, the crowd was polite but unmoved which was a shame but live Manchester Orchestra can be so much better.
