Los Campesinos! are known for their riotous live shows, and they didn't disappoint in Exeter last night, as they impressed cross-dressers & Halloween fans alike on their final show of their U.K tour.
Thinking of Los Campesinos!, there probably isn't a more exciting band to watch live right now. However, Vancouver's You Say Party, We Say Die, probably push them close. So when the two hook up together for a month long tour of the U.K, you know you're in for a treat.
But starting off this Halloween night was Cardiff based band Attack + Defend, who certainly made an effort, both with dress and musical substance.
They performed a number of tracks with considerable aplomb, 'Garibaldi' being one of the highlights.
Then came You Say Party, We Say Die, who are carving a very good reputation for themselves, whilst also enhancing the reputation of Vancouver, who continue to bless us with some stunning bands.
Keeping with the Halloween theme, the group donned face masks and showed a rather emotional side to their live persona's, quite clearly, the fivesome have built up a special relationship with their tour chums, with vocalist Becky repeatedly jumped from the stage into camp Los Campesinos! to sing with them. It made much more sense to invite them onto stage, and sure enough, after a few tracks the tiny stage was invaded by some twelve people to belt out some of the YSPWSD back catalogue.
So, then came the turn of Los Campesinos!, who had earlier graced the stage with YSPWSD. The girls had all added their manly facial hair (as you can see from the photos above), but the lads had the last laugh as the almost 30 minute delay between bands proved necessary - as Gareth, Neil, Ollie and Tom all went one step further, coming out in dresses and plaid skirts.
And after an hours set, the band returned to do an encore with all the members of You Say Party We Say Die and Attack + Defend, to bring to a close a superb showcase of two of the hottest bands right now.
