Let's face it, encores have become a pointless custom nowadays which is expected by most fans when really, if we're being completely honest; 99% of the time nobody actually cares. When a crowd - most of whom would normally be content enough to get home to bed late on a Wednesday night - let out huge chants for The Human Bell to carry on playing, it was clear to see that this pointless custom was the only way this crowd was going to be satiated.
Accompanied by the very fine support of Red River Dialect, their weird and beauty distilling set was led by Mr Lono Records himself. Right from the outset, this was a night of high quality entertainment.
Had The Human Bell wished to perform such a crime, they may well have got away with wearing t-shirts entitled: "'Godspeed You! Black Emperor' eat your heart out", the interaction of the two guitars was very well worked and when David Heumann and Nathan Bell touched on looser structures, the fascinating drumming of Peter Townsend kept the songs tight-knit. They certainly were loud, and all the better for it!
