One of the perks of visiting South By Southwest is that you can find bands that sell out tours in the UK within minutes performing to a few gathered alcoholics in a bar.
Now Maggie Mae's Rooftop is not quite that venue, but it is much smaller than The Wombats have recently become accustomed to playing.
About 400 people gather, on this canvas covered rooftop to listen to Liverpool's newest pop export, it's one of those gigs where you get to see a relatively unknown band ingratiate itself to an audience within the course of an hour.
Two songs in and 'Kill The Director' brings the crowd to life, swiftly followed by Party in a Forest. Whilst playing quite a short set, there's plenty of rock 'n' roll energy distilled into the set tonight.
To finish, The Wombats deploy their best double-barrelled weapon, 'Moving to New York' and then after treating us to a newly written song, last year's indie classic 'Lets Dance To Joy Division.'
The audience was successfully won over and The Wombats will surely have acquired quite a few new fans after tonight's performance.
