Currently going through managers quicker than Sienna Miller goes through men, Steven Morrissey has settled on a new manager to take over just one month after kicking 'ie: music' to the kerb.
The ex-Smiths singer had been managed long-term by Merck Mercuriadis. The new guy goes by the name of Irving Azoff, who should be more than capable of handling the famously difficult artist after experience with Van Halen, Alter Bridge, Christina Aguilera, New Kids on the Block, Seal and Guns 'n' Roses.
Interesting, Guns 'n' Roses who are now with Azoff were also previously managed by Merck Mercuriadis until Axl Rose fired him claiming he was shown "no respect" by the manager. He also went on to blame Mercuriadis for causing further delays to the release of "Chinese Democracy", the band's long-awaited new album. It's clear to us that Merck has a problem bowing down to these gods among men. Grovel Merck, prostrate yourself good.
The ninth album by Morrissey, "Years of Refusal" is currently pencilled in for a February 2, 2009 release. This will be preceded by a re-issue of the singer's fifth solo album "Southpaw Grammar" via BMG Records. They've tagged a January 26, 2009 window for the re-release, which will feature new tracks and a revised running order.
