The Mars Volta's latest single is doing its round on the internet so we thought we'd let you in on the new track and see what you guys thought.
The bands newly announced fifth album Octahedron (SG News HERE) is due to reach the world on June 23rd and this surprisingly short single by the name of Cotopaxi. is taken from it (track number four to be exact).
Its quite obviously Mars Volta to its core but they seem to have shed some of the pretentious layers that began to spring up after Frances The Mute. Its short, proggy as hell and basically everything The Mars Volta do well in little over three minutes (drastic breaks, furious instruments, tinges of jazz, Omar's vocals).
The song can be heard below and whilst the video isn't actually a video; it doesn't particularly matter...the song is too entertaining to care. Apparently the image in the video is the confirmed artwork for Octahedron and whilst we can't confirm as yet, it does look a little Volta-esque no?
Have a listen and let us know what you think.
