Cold War Kids are a strange type of band.

Their music has been used for an entire truck load of US Television Shows and they seem to have Radio appeal coming out of their nostrils and yet still this writer cannot help but love them.

Their first album Robbers And Cowards was a mixed bag of brilliant tracks and mainstream appeal. It did enough to avoid being tagged with the Pop genre and propelled the band into the limelight with songs like Hang Me Up To Dry and Hospital Beds (remember every advert in the universe having this in the background?).

Then came their second album, Loyalty To Loyalty which threw a curve ball directly toward the faces of their fans. It was a darker album with more mature instrumentation and emotive lyrics; needless to say it was a promising second release.

This video is of the lead singer Nathan and a friend performing the track Dreams Old Man Dream off of the Loyalty To Loyalty LP for The Black Cab Sessions. Its acoustic, brilliantly executed and ridiculously entertaining to watch. The fact that the girl plays the violin in perfect unison with the singing and acoustic guitar and still manages not to drown them both out is amazing.

Have a watch, drop your jaw in disbelief and then let us know what you thought in the comments below. You can also check out all of the previous Videos Of The Week by clicking the links underneath the video.
