Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.
We've been wanting to feature Dawn Landes for sometime now and though her Black Cab Session was more than ample entertainment to include in this very feature, we instead chose a rather left-wing choice that we couldn't resist sharing with you.
Up and coming in the biggest and best way possible, Dawn Landes has written and released three records in her seven year musical life-span and only now has the much deserved recognition and acclaim started pouring in. Her latest record, 2008's Fireproof was a subtle work of folk-pop genius and though she's perhaps been promoted a little awkwardly (forgettable advertisements and mellow music seem destined to clash, whomever the artist may be), her music is still fantastically articulate and her voice verge's on the unforgettably beautiful.
The video below features Landes and her good friends 'The WST Band' completely re-write 'Peter, Bjorn and Johns' Young Folks into a blue-grass, folk slice of genuine brilliance. The original song was admittedly rather annoying after the first few listens but this version ceases to loose it's brilliance time and time again.
