Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.
They managed to snatch our 2009 Album Of The Year award and have been the name on everyone's lips over the past twelve months so how could we not feature The XX as our very first 2010 'Video Of The Week'?
You're quite right, we simply had to.
The below video was shot by the newly created Amsterdam Acoustic music site who only started up in July of '09. One of their very first video's is of The XX performing the album-track Crystalised and it shows a swiftly rising Oliver Sim and Romy Croft croon and pluck their acoustic hearts out on an Amsterdam bridge in the middle of the day.
The sound could be sharper, the cinematography could be a little more adventurous and hell, the duo could've probably played the song a little better but it's that youthful, bashful amateurishness that actually makes the video so unique. It's also great to see how attuned the two are with one-another, even before the record was out.
Give it a watch below and as always, let us kow what you guys think at the bottom of the page.
