Six months after he was unceremoniously booted out from his vocal duties at Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland has spoken out about who he thinks was to blame for the schism.
Square in his sights have been minor financial disagreements and an adverse reaction to his decision to reconvene with his previous band Stone Temple Pilots for a series of shows during a summer hiatus. The band he left behind are still searching for a replacement vocalist, but insist that they will continue; they have new material ready to go.
Speaking to Playboy magazine, Weiland confessed:
"When I told (founder and guitarist) Slash I was gonna do some festivals with Stone Temple Pilots, he said, 'Thank you for being straight up with me'. It wasn't until later that another member of the band had some issues with it.
"It's a shame certain people have a hard time letting go of past resentments and try to throw them onto other people.
"When you start bickering about little piddly financial things, it takes the fun out of it for me... We're all doing pretty good, so if you're going to fuck the relationship up over this, I don't want to be involved."
In the meantime, Weiland has been putting together his second solo album: Happy in Galoshes which will enter the shops next Tuesday (Nov 25). He has expressed uncertainty over the future of Stone Temple Pilots due to the fact that the band are still under contract to Atlantic Records, an obligation he is less than eager to fulfill.
