Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

The fairer sex take the spotlight this week with two blonde bombshells vying for the limelight with their respective album releases.

Scarlett Johansson hopes to emulate the crossover success of...... (err, does anyone have an example of an actress forging a successful music career?) with her album of Tom Waits cover versions entitled "Anywhere I Lay My Head".

The Ting Tings' Katie White meanwhile is equally hoping for success for her first foray into music that doesn't require endlessly repeating the title of each song over and over and over again.... wait! Maybe someday Steps will support you instead of the other way around Katie, one can but dream.

Green Day explore their 60's side as well this week with the not-so-secret-anymore side-project aka Foxboro Hot Tubs.

The under-the-radar album comes from shoegazers E for Explosion. Mixing equal parts My Bloody Valentine wait equal parts Jimmy Eat World, the Kentucky quartet are certainly worth a perusal.
