“Oh, by now, I must have grown”, Alessi Laurent-Marke sings, four songs into her brand new sophomore album, Time Travel.
It's a fitting lyric for someone who recorded their debut album at the tender age of seventeen.
Now 20, Alessi's Ark has compiled another round of her tender folk-pop charms, this time drawing on the experience of the last few years to make an exquisitely mature record.
You only have to listen to the new track 'The Wire' - embedded below to work that out for yourselves.
'Time Travel' which is released April 25th on Bella Union records, was recorded in Brighton's Electric Studios with Wilkommen Collective's Marcus Hamblett and at Bryn Derwen in Wales with David Wrench.
The experience of recording ‘Time Travel’ in two different places gave the album its name:
“In Brighton, we did 12 hour days and had no idea what was going on in the outside world. In Wales, there was no phone signal, and it felt far away from everything.”
