People hoping for a 'song 3' in the near future may way be smiling themselves to sleep tonight as Damon Albarn offered up comments which seemed to suggest that a reunion of 'Brit-Pop' era band Blur might be on the cards.
The vocalist related that he had met up with original Blur guitarist Graham Coxon for lunch and the meeting had gone well.
"It's very possible I'll go back to Blur, it really is very possible. The truth be known Graham and I have been hanging out together a bit. We had lunch the other day." he said, reiterating what we just told you. "He's great, it's fantastic to get my old friend back. So it's good but I can't really say any more than that."
Coxon left the band back in 2002 with the others continuing for a short time before deciding to put the band on hold. Albarn has since gone on to play in bands such as Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad And The Queen and Africa Express. More recently Albarn teamed up with Chinese actor and director Chen Shi-zheng and British artist Jamie Hewlett to create a stage adaptation of a 16th century Chinese novel in the form of "Monkey: Journey to the West". The show - performed entirely in Mandarin - will return to London on November 12 at its new home in the O2 arena.
"There was definitely the interest and demand to come back to London. We needed to find somewhere else and we were approached by the 02. They asked whether we would like to work with them and bring it back to London. So we decided to build our own tent and make our own world. For kids it's a magical other world and for adults they can relax and enjoy themselves."
Albarn is also currently in the midst of recording a new album with side-project Gorillaz. Whenever will he find the time for Blur?
