Former Garbage bandmate Shirley Manson let slip during a TV interview that Butch Vig would be producing the upcoming Green Day album. A fact which no one seemed aware of.
The pop-punk behemoths have kept a veil of secrecy over their new full-length, only departing from the shroud to release an album under the guise of Foxboro Hot Tubs in April of this year. Fans are still waiting for the follow-up to "American Idiot" which was released over four years ago.
Butch Vig has worked production on countless impressive albums, with Nirvana's "Nevermind", Sonic Youth's "Dirty", Smashing Pumpkins' "Siamese Dream", Jimmy Eat World's "Chase This Light" and AFI's "Sing the Sorrow" under his belt. He also produced and drummed on all of Garbage's albums.
Scottish singer Manson let the information fly during 'Last Call with Carson Daly'. When asked if Garbage would ever end their 'indefinite hiatus' she replied "I don’t know, to be honest. We’re sort of doing our different things. I’m doing the TV show, Butch is producing Green Day, so he’s busy, so we’ll see.". She was promoting her recurring role on TV show 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' in which she plays a murderous variation of the T-1000 (the liquidy robot).
