Self pity is the order of the day, the week and even the year. They won't be there for you, not even when the rain starts to fall. Such is the nature of the new album from the great Camera Obscura.
The destined date for My Maudlin Career will be April 20, 2009 via 4AD Records. The Glaswegians released their previous album - Let’s Get Out Of This Country - back in 2006.
Earlier in their career, the male-female collective found themselves championed by the late John Peel.
Tracyanne Campbell commented on the new record,
"Some people who have heard it say it's intense and quite dark. I suppose it is in a way. We were even more open and brave when making it than we were with the last record. I've never been so brutal when its come to writing lyrics. I wouldn't even call them lyrics. Just documentation of what was going on with me for a while. I truly believe it's the best we've done so far."
Leading up to the album's release will be a handful of shows for the band.
