Nikolai Fraiture of New York band The Strokes (and solo project Nickel Eye) has signed up to run the New York marathon this year.

He'll be running the event in aid of the New York Road Runners Foundation's Team For Kids charity. It will take place on November 1, 2009.

Fraiture announced his decision via his MySpace webpage, explaining "I will be helping raise the funds needed to support youth fitness, goal-setting and nutrition programs throughout America and Africa while fulfilling, as a New Yorker, a life-long dream of running the marathon,"
