Always wanting to be different, Coldplay have revealed that their new album has a "Hispanic theme" and has been massively influenced by their time touring cities such as Buenos Aires.
Writing on their barely legible blog at coldplay.com the band explained that there was "a vibrancy and colourfulness that owes much to the atmosphere of Buenos Aires and Barcelona."
They also revealed that recording was taking place in the very city of Barcelona, inside the many churches of the Spanish city. They said: "It's an odd scene: a host of saints look down upon four unkempt band members, circled around a single mic stand - singing loudly together as recorded guitars reverberate around the church."
"The sights, sounds and flavours of Latin America and Spain have definitely been infused on this album. The band visited Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico earlier this year," they explained. "Chris then came up with the idea of recording in Spain. The music and lyrics have begun to reflect the strengthening Hispanic theme", they added.
Sheesh, I have a "church hall" setting on my hifi, are Coldplay immune to technology now? Still nothing like "atmosphere".
Coldplay's fourth album, rumoured to be titled 'Prospekt' is being produced by the legendary Brian Eno, and you can expect it to be released sometime around summer next year.
