Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

We're rather lucky here in the U.K, although not getting the intimate shows that would be dreamy, 100,000 people will at least get to see the Pumpkins at Reading/Leeds.

But that wasn't the case in America, where demand brought Ticketweb.com to a crashing halt.

It all centres around an nine night "residency" at the Orange Peel, one of North Carolina's premier music venues.

The Orange Peel, in Asheville, NC, gave Ticketweb the task of sale and despatch of all tickets for the nine dates.

Within minutes, the server imploded, and many Pumpkins fans were left rather irate at the lack of preparation put into the IT backbone for ticket sales.

Needless to say, the job has now been passed on to Ticketmaster.

From The Orange Peel Website: "Due to a major crash with the ticketing service's server, the on-sale for the Smashing Pumpkins residency at the Orange Peel In Asheville, North Carolina has been temporarily suspended.

"We are taking steps to fix the problem and will re-launch ticket sales sometime on Monday, May 21 or perhaps Tuesday, May 22, as soon as we can be assured that all problems have been resolved.

"The on sale time will be announced at least 4 hours prior to the on-sale and will not occur prior to Monday, May 21, at 6pm Eastern Time (11pm GMT)."
