Initial disappointment turned to glee for Enter Shikari fans in Blackpool at the weekend when a concert had to be cancelled following the venue's ceiling beginning to collapse.
Instead of just calling it a day, the band instead engaged in a four-and-a-half hour meet and greet with the fifteen-hundred fans who turned up, and well as rescheduling the event for all of them at a later date.
The band were due to play at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom when cracks started to appear on the ceiling during the band's soundcheck. Shortly after, pieces of the ceiling began to fall and health and safety officers for the venue decided to pull the show. Initially, fan reaction was initially icy (they obviously didn't share the fear of Asterix and Obelix) until they realised that they'd get a chance to meet the band personally.
Enter Shikari said in a brief statement: "Gutted... It looked and sounded incredible in there, and indeed it would have gone off big-time, were the show to go ahead as planned."
The date for the rescheduled show has not yet been decided, original tickets remain valid and refunds available at point of purchase.
