Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

The first barrage of names have been fired from the cannon for Swn Festival 2009, due to take place in October.

The Welsh event, curated by BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, seeks to illuminate new Welsh talent (apparently, not an oxymoron) as well as lining up the big damn heroes of Welsh rock to bolster the line-up.

SWN Festival 2009 will run from Thursday 22 – Saturday 24 October. Pre-sale tickets are available until this Friday 31 July from www.wegottickets.com priced at £15 for a one-day pass and £40 for a three-day pass.

The preliminary line-up - with many more to be added - looks like this:
