Organisers have pulled the plug on this year's Isle of Sky Music Festival after a loss of half a million pounds was accumulated and administrators were called in to salvage the debacle.

BBC News is reporting that some musicians and equipment suppliers are yet to be paid for the services they supplied to last year's event.

Director of the festival, John Gilbertson, admitted that they had aimed outside of their league, having budgeted for nearly 10,000 festival-goers a day, when in fact they had only managed about half that figure.

Previously, the festival had counted bands such as Kasabian, Dirty Pretty Things, yourcodenameis:milo, Ash, Echo & The Bunnymen and Mylo.

The event was due to take place at Ashaig Airstrip near Broadford, Scotland in late May.
