Not put off by claims that he ruined Glastonbury 2008 (if 50 Cent can't ruin Reading, we can't believe that) Jay-Z has confirmed his return to the U.K Festival circuit.
He will headline the Isle of Wight Festival in 2010 alongside The Strokes, it has been confirmed. The event will run from June 11-13. Other artists confirmed to appear so far include Pink, Blondie and Orbital. Catching The Strokes will be something of a coup, since the band have not played any live dates in the U.K since 2006, and will fuel speculation that the band are putting their side-projects back in the cupboard and are releasing a new album together.
Organiser John Giddings said of the confirmations: "Ever since I heard the first Strokes album, I've wanted them for the Isle of Wight.
“Jay-Z and Pink are two of the best live acts I have ever seen and the Blondie hits speak for themselves. I can't wait.”
Who'd have thunk it, the organiser of the festival likes the bands he's signed up a fair amount. It's almost like he wants to somehow convince us to buy tickets for the thing. Speaking of, tickets go on sale from this Friday (December 4) and will set you back £150 for an adult camping ticket, other tickets are available.
