Seattle songstress Jesse Sykes and her band The Sweet Hereafter have revealed the follow up to 2007’s critically acclaimed ‘Like Love, Lust and the Open Halls of the Soul’ with ‘Marble Son’, their fourth release from Fargo Records.

Marble Son will hit all good U.K-based record stores on May 2nd, two weeks after the band arrive in the UK for a spate of live dates including a show at Monto Water Rats in London on April 21st. Expect a U.S release sometime in the summer.

Sykes and Phil Wandscher (co-founder of Whiskeytown with Ryan Adams) took on full production duties for ‘Marble Son’; recorded entirely in and around their hometown of Seattle.

We're told that the record is "an extension of their previous work, influenced in part by an association with the heavy doom and art-metal movement centred around Los Angeles label Southern Lord and two of their bands Sunn O))) and Boris."

This “unlikely” musical friendship was immortalised with Skyes and Wandscher appearing on the 2006 Sunn O))) and Boris collaborative album ‘Altar’, culminating in a headlining performance of the album at the ATP festival in New York last summer.
