Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

Hotel chain Travelodge have recently commissioned research which proves that dull, repetitive music makes you sleepy. It really is one of those genius boardroom ideas isn't it.

Somewhat like how according to statistics released this week by the government's office of statistics, 84% of people don't trust statistics. Therefore 17 out of 20 people who took part in the survey, don't believe in the survey.

Moving beyond the pointlessness, they did unearth both the CDs and the books which are most liable to send you to sleep, should you not want to follow the Tyler Durden route. Should you be wondering about the headline, we do not mean that Jordan's silky tones are on a par with Chris Martin's, should you not believe that, we do recommend listening to the below audio clip, although we should warn you first. Do not listen to the audio clip.

What they do share a talent for though, is sending people into a slumber. Coldplay were voted as the most sleep-inducing musicians whereas Katie 'Jordan' Price's biography was voted the book most likely to end up covered in a translucent fluid... by which we mean drool, obviously.

Also scoring high on the boredom chart were James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones. "The research shows that we are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and unchallenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living, to help us switch off and get to sleep at night." remarks a Travelodge spokesman. Speaking of which, a survey of 7,012 people showed that most people found turning the light off and not lying on the flight path of an aeroplane helpful in catching some zzz's. Although those kipping outside of Terminal 5 didn't seem to have that problem for some reason.
