It seems to be a right of passage nowadays for bands to be insulted by one of the Gallagher brothers from 'Oasis'.

Recently Noel Gallagher added 'Bloc Party' to their ever expanding list by branding them "a band off University Challenge". Perhaps the insult was lost in translation? Nevertheless, frontman Kele Okereke from the aforementioned Bloc Party has come back swinging by saying to Uncut magazine "I think Oasis are the most over-rated and pernicious band of all time...They had a totally negative and dangerous impact upon the state of British music. They have made stupidity hip." Sources have since discounted the rumour that Gallagher replied "Permalicious?" (ed: It means to cause insidious harm)

He backed up this statement by continuing "Why is it bad to better yourself? It's all about the weird way in which this country chooses to view the working classes. It is really daft to reinforce the idea that there is something cool about being dumb...The idea that your ambitions shouldn't extend beyond getting drunk and watching the football really irks me. It's this idea that to be authentically working class you need to be untainted by the airy-fairy ephemera of education. And it seems to be pretty unique to this country."

Gallaghers, we await your rebuttal... no, re-butt-al... It means to oppose the statement with contrary proof.
