Lit Tour Scuppered By Brain Tumour

08th May 2008 | by Aidan Williamson

O.C. rock band Lit have been forced to cancel all their forthcoming tour dates after the band's drummer Allen Shellenberger was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The band who shot to prominence after a series of hit U.S singles, including "My Own Worst Enemy", "Zip-Lock", "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Miserable" were due to play tonight in London at the Electric Ballroom, a show that has now been cancelled, along with the rest of their shows throughout Europe.

In a short statement, the band quickly explained: "Our brother, Allen Shellenberger, is currently in the hospital undergoing testing and treatment for a brain tumour that was just discovered. We are still not sure what his prognosis is and we are all standing by and waiting for test results to come in. Please say a prayer and keep him in your thoughts."

"Unfortunately, we will not be able to make the shows this week in the UK and Europe. We were all so excited to come. At this point we have to just stay put and be by Allen while he goes through this difficult time. We will make it up to you as soon as we can. We know some fans who made travel plans from other countries to see us and we apologize for the inconvenience."

"Our West Coast dates right now are on hold until we know what is going on."

I heard about the situation on the radio on May 11th and immeadiatly was "interested." When I was 10 I began having complex partial seizures because a beniegn brain tumor we found later on the MRI. Now being 19, Iknow what it's like to be in that harsh situation and everyone wanting to do more for you.I know you'll hang in there alright and hopefully the diagnoses is the best of a bad situation; and good health to the rest of you aswell.

Have your say
