The hype surrounding Midlake's recently announced third album 'The Courage Of Others' has already taken music-blogs by storm since the news was revealed back in late-October.
A UK, US and European tour has since been announced for January and February of 2010 (the same month that The Courage Of Others hits stores) and now, frontman of the band Tim Smith has sat down and opened up about the new L.P in a new interview with Pitchfork.
During the conversation, Smith talks about his influences (British Folk this time around), the bands more improvised take on the new music and other such things:
"I don't just change for the sake of changing; I'm really never satisfied with where we're at. I'm satisfied with this album, but I already know that the next time we're going to do better. So it's not a matter of needing to change to find a different sound so that people will think we're evolving as a band. I don't care about that. I just wasn't happy anymore. As much as I love "Roscoe", I just didn't want a whole other album of "Roscoe". It just happened because of what we were listening to at the time; your tastes just change."
It's a good read and holds a fair amount of excitable words on the forthcoming full-length so check it out and let us know what you think.
sounds like it will be worth a listen. I like that in the opening paragraph they've called the last album The Trials of Van Occupanter
