Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.
With all the tabloid furore of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss being chucked out, and Noel Gallagher slagging off Robbie Williams, you could be forgiven for thinking that there was an awards ceremony at Hammersmith Palais in London last night.
The Arctic Monkeys continued their dominance of mainstream music picking up two gongs for Best Album and Best Music DVD. Muse also scooped two "awards", for Best Band and rather fortuitously Matt Bellamy won "Sexiest Male" award.
"This is the verdict of the real passionate British music fans, the ones who keep the music scene alive at gigs up and down the country week-in and week-out," NME editor Conor McNicholas said. "It's a reflection of how strong the British music scene is that there's so much to be celebrated."
