John Darnielle, founding member of North Carolinan folk-rock band Mountain Goats has joined forces with analogue-enthusiast John Vanderslice for a special vinyl-only E.P together.

The two embarked upon an acoustic tour together earlier this year in an event which was dubbed the 'Gone Primitive tour'. The two set up a microphone together and recorded the "Moon Colony Bloodbath" E.P specifically for sale on the tour. Printed copies did not quite sell out, so happily, their surplus is now up for grabs via retail.

Describing the project to Pitchfork, Darnielle explained "Some of the songs have something to do with a loose rock opera/'concept album' idea about organ harvesting colonies on the moon and the employees thereof, who spent their off months living in secluded opulence in remote American locations. Concepts like this are actually more fun when you abandon them but leave their traces kicking around, so that's what we did."

The remainder of the stock is now in the hands of Beggars Group and 3 Beads of Sweat who will be selling the vinyl through mail order.
