After two break-ups, one in 1996 and one in 1999 it seems that once again The Verve are parting ways.
Their reunion and newest album Forth was huge news last year but it seems the tension between the band was far from dead, even over a decade after their second split.
Frontman of the band Richard Ashcroft and lead guitarist Andy McCabe have publicly shared their indifference for each-other on a host of different occasions and back in April, the first signs of another break-up came in the form of a blog post on McCabe's Myspace account:
"The Verve seem to be on holiday and show no sign of not being on holiday. I've been hesitant to breach Official Secrets-style policy with any missives from the, well, from any front, basically. [But] don't ask me anything about the big V."
Fast-forward to present day and a source for British Newspaper The Guardian has confirmed that the band no longer exists:
"As far as Nick and Simon are concerned the Verve no longer exists. They think Richard was just using the reunion as a vehicle to get his solo career on track."
McCabe and Verve bass-player Simon Jones have now officially created a new band by the name of The Black Ships alongside Goldfrapp violinist Davide Rossi and drummer Mig Shillace. A debut is said to already be in the works.
To be honest, it sounds like the best thing for all of them. Forth was a disappointment and if the band chemistry isn't right then the music isn't right; plain and simple.
What's your thoughts? Let us know below.
Forth was not a disappointment. It was quite good.
Forth was a crock of shit, it sounded like a band jamming in the studio (which is probably exactly what it was).
