Oasis were brought to a crashing halt during their set at the Virgin Festival in Toronto last night (Sep 7) when an unnamed man ambushed the stage and attacked both of the Gallagher brothers.

The boys were halfway through playing "Morning Glory" when someone rushed out from backstage and pushed guitarist Noel Gallagher, sending him flying to the floor. He then headed straight for front-man Liam Gallagher, just as security stepped in to intervene against the surprise assault.

It seems that Liam escaped unharmed, but not before getting a few heavy blows in on the attacker (after he was safely restrained by security of course). The band quickly headed off-stage for a debriefing and medical check up (Noel went down pretty damn hard) before returning to their set ten minutes later. The man was later charged for assault by the Canadian police.

What would we do without the humble crowd-cams. Captured from two angles by the audience, be prepared to go "ooooooh, that must've hurt!"
