Frank Black and his band of Pixies have been confirmed for a slot at the forthcoming Isle of Wight festival. They will perform second on the bill, topped only by Neil Young.
Organiser John Giddings commented, “It was hard to think of someone capable of complementing the musical talent of Neil Young but once I had the idea it was blindly obvious and it will surely be a legendary day on the Isle of Wight.”
The festival runs from June 12-14, 2009; The Pixies will perform on the main stage on June 14, aiding Mr. Young in closing the festival.
Tickets are still available for the shindig; adult weekend camping tickets carry a face-value price tag of £140 (£20 less for non-camping) with children (under 13-years-of-age) paying half-price in each respective category. No one-day tickets are available.
Confirmed bands to play in 2009 also include The Prodigy, Pendulum, Basement Jaxx, The Ting Tings, Stereophonics, Razorlight and The Charlatans. For more information, head for the Official Website.
