The fall is steep for the former TIME Magazine 'Man of the Year'. You are now hated by the embodiment of all that is good, just and chaste in music. We of course refer to musical demi-gods Razorlight and their spiritual leader Johnny Borrell.
The singer has taken the lukewarm reception to the band's recent album Slipway Fires to heart, claiming he is "not happy" whatsoever about the critical reaction.
"I'm not happy with the reviews on the whole because I don't think people have given the album a chance", explained Borrell. "If I go to a gig and see a band I don't like, at least I can be objective, but it seems people want to believe the crap that's written about me.
"But the haters aren't going to win", he asserted
He then went on to reaffirm his dedication to Sparkle Motion despite the rumblings that he may be teetering on the edge of a solo career. Just a stab in the dark here (sorry grandma, accident) but if everybody hates him, how is discarding the shield of the semi-likable band going to help? We at Strange Glue are of course immune to his attacks. Come the inclusion of Slipway Fires on our review slate, nobody would even touch it.
Sandra, it was a play on the old patriotic enlistment advertisements which were popular back in the 20th century. See here for an example.
It's no secret that few of the people which this site is aimed at have much love for Mr. Borrell; hence to the greater majority of our readers, it would have been entirely accurate.
Sandra, i think you're lost in translation.
Aidan, where did you get that photo from? Its awesome, looks like its from his yearbook in 1994.
Lol.
I'm thinking you searched through 8 pages of google images to find that dodgy photo.
Have you watched Donnie Darko in the last few days by any chance? That's the second reference in as many articles I've read!
Nope, just the one page.
I actually haven't watched Donnie Darko for a good few months now CS. Did you hear that they're doing a straight-to-DVD sequel entitled "S. Darko" which follows his little sister Samantha.
Needless to say, only 1% of the people involved in the first film are having anything to do with the second. If I had enough money, I'd buy the distribution rights, and burn it.
Are people actually sticking up for this cretin?
one word comes to mind. scum (as in him...not the people. just to make that clear =S)
Apparently S.Darko is about the ghost of Frank the rabbit and the little sister from the first. Sounds terrible and it's a nasty thing to do to a unique movie. Anyway, Saw VI anyone!
Just to keep things on track, Borrell you wanker. =)
