Sister Ray, the indie record store who pioneered the sale of music through its mail order business in the early 80s, has gone into administration.
The firm, headed by Neil Brown and Phil Barton, still hope to find a buyer for the business, with the administrators stating that a sale of the business as a going concern, was still a distinct possibility.
Ian Cadlock, one of the administrators told Music Week: “This is a unique business with a truly global reputation and we are doing everything possible to ensure that Sister Ray is preserved for music fans worldwide”.
For now Sister Ray will carry on trading at its store in Soho's Berwick Street. Interested parties are asked to contact the administrators Tenon Recovery.
