Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

After Sons & Daughters had given the audience at Antone's an aural shot of adrenaline, The Kills upped the heart rate with a genuinely electrifying performance.

Their sound was deliberately sleazy and dark and from the opening bars of URA Fever through to the closing 'Fried my Little Brains' this was The Kills at their best.

There's always a palpable element of onstage tension between Hince and Mosshart. She commands the stage with a sultry and confident presence, Hince meanwhile carves oak aged blues riffs with statuesque assuredness.

The release of their recent album 'Midnight Boom' has really added a depth to their material that was missing before and their recent live shows reflect this. Overall this set itself out as one of the first really great performances of SxSW 2008.
