Album number five from baroque-pop favourites The Decemberists has entered the mixing stage of its production. It's at this point that a name would be nice, and the boys and girl are happy to acquiesce.
"Hazards of Love" will be the official title of the L.P which is expected in the Spring or Summer of next year. In the meantime, the quintet will be releasing a series of singles as part of their "Always the Bridesmaid..." collection.
The first volume is due for release next Tuesday (Oct 14, 2008) and will feature the tracks "Valerie Plame" and "O New England". Volume two ("Days of Elaine", "Days of Elaine (long)" & "I'm Sticking With You") will follow on November 4 and volume three ("Record Year For Rainfall" & "Raincoat Song") on December 2.
The singles will be available of 12" coloured vinyl and digital download. According to the band, the single series is designed to "prominently feature songs that the Decemberists really loved but presciently felt they would not fit on the band’s forthcoming L.P."
Since these songs are already recorded, the band will be busying themselves with a spot of touring. See below for details if you were confused as to what all those dates and places mean.
