We all still remember the troubled brilliance that was The Decemberists' latest effort 'The Hazards Of Love'.

It was a huge record that propelled them further than any of their previous work had done before and was so cohesive, they even decided to play the entire thing, song-for-song, on their promotional tours. Now, the album is taking another unique form and will be released as an animated movie.

Here Comes The Waves: The Hazards Of Love Visualised is it's name and though it was already premiered back in October at one the groups gigs in Los Angeles, come December 1st the film will be made available exclusively through iTunes to everyone.

Four directors (Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria) were drafted in to create separate segments of animation that are all said to compliment the record and it's overarching concept.

Whether it'll work perfectly or not is something we'll just have to wait and see but if we're just going on the bands hugely creative personalities and ideas, we're going to go ahead and say that it'll most likely be pretty damn awesome.

You can watch the trippy trailer for the film below.
