London duo The Kills realised shortly into the writing and recording of their new album that distractions were not their friend, and thus voyaged to unknown territories, or Michigan, as some people call it.

Now holed up in the picturesque Benton Harbour, the duo - which includes former Discount vocalist Alison Mosshart - got to work on their follow up to 2005's "No Wow", which is to be titled "Midnight Boom".

"There were no distractions, and that provides room for creativity," said singer Allison 'VV' Mosshart. "We had to invent things to do, and that kept us on our toes." March 18 is the date when people can expect to get their hands on the work of the garage rock outfit, but don't be expecting same old same old say guitarist Jamie Hince "We [want] to create 'modern playground songs,' with really upbeat melodies and dark lyrics, like kids used to sing during recess."

In a refreshing a-typical view to the modern day music trend, Mosshart has stated "I think the use of music in ads is just ugly. It's so sad that kids don't notice or care anymore when their [favourite] band cashes in." [cough - Against Me! - cough] Hince continued "I hate the ringtone thing; I think it's destroying music."
