It was on a cold winter’s morning, so the story goes, when two high school friends spotted a neon sign in front of a church in Brooklyn. "Apostolic Faith Mission" it read.

If you took out Apostolic, put in Alcoholic, the two friends discussed, you’d have a pretty cool band name.

And so Sune Sølund and Thorben Seierø Jensen went on to set up the band Alcoholic Faith Mission, and with it brought considerable success, especially with the release of their most recent full-length, Let This Be The Last Night We Care, which was critically if not commercially, a huge success.

Now with a new EP called The Running With Insanity, Alcoholic Faith Mission are heading to North America to see if they can get any more alcoholics.

Thorben spoke to Strange Glue about their plans:

1) How many times have you been to SxSW?

None! First time and we're really looking forward to it. We're told that Austin is a true Gem.

2) What's the best thing about being in Austin? Or if you've not been before.... What are your tourism related plans?

Unfortunately I doubt we'll have time for any tourism. We're booked every day pretty much, but that's a good thing. We're here to play and show off our music. Travels will have to wait until another time.

3) Why are you playing SxSW? ('Cos we hear the money isn't too good)

Well, right you are. If you're doing it for the money you might wanna think about getting into another line of work. We're here to meet and greet fans and collaborators that have contacted us. Hopefully with this trip to Canadian Music Week, New York and obviously Austin, it will help us be more organized in the States, and be able to play not only the east coast as we have been. Who knows?! We're just looking forward to drinking it all in.

4) Who are you showcasing for, and where and when can we expect to see you?

We have some day parties around and about, but our showcase is with our label Paper Garden Records at the Swan Dive. For now our schedule looks as below, but we're told that there's a lot more to come, but we just can't confirm it a 100% yet.

5) Which other bands/artists are you most looking forward to seeing over music week?

I can't speak for the rest of the guys, but we're playing with Baths one of the dates, I'll definitely try to make it to that show. Cerulean has pretty much been my soundtrack the last couple of days. Other than that it's all about getting lost I think. Let the adventure take you somewhere!

6) Will you visit the Film or Interactive sections of SxSW this year? Or is time tight?

Time's tight. Would have been lovely. Everyone in the band is really into films and documentaries, but we have stupid obligations such as rent, jobs and families waiting for us. And we can't really justify being away more than a few weeks at a time when the money isn't better than it is. Really would love to though...

7) What does the rest of 2011 hold for you?

A lot of touring. Recording when we get back, festivals over the summer and many sporadic shows in the fall. Other than that it's pretty standard stuff: Fame, Money, Sex & Power.
