The Verve, once the lynchpins of the indie scene are to reunite for the first time in eight years. They have announced plans for a brief November tour and a probable new album.

In a statement, the band announced they were: "Getting back together for the joy of the music." Despite the traumas from almost a decade ago, the band will return to its original lineup.

Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury are believed to be taking the summer "off", before returning to the studio to begin work on what will be their fourth studio album.

The tour dates include two dates each in Glasgow, Blackpool and London, although more will follow once the album is completed.

Tickets go on sale on July 6th, from 9am.
