Support new music: choose from our favourite new albums this month.

Thursday have announced they have decided to leave the major label "Island Def Jam".

The influential band from New Jersey have been on the major label for 4 years and have released 2 albums, "War All the Time" and "A City by the Light Divided". They insist that it was a mutual decision between themselves and the record label. "Thursday" plan to complete all their tour dates booked throughout 2007 before retiring to the studio to write and record a new album.

The bands relationship with their previous label "Victory Records" ended remarkably less amicably, with the band going as far to releasing a public statement detailing all the ways they felt they had been slighted by the label head "Tony Brummel". Some speculated that the reason for the move to Island was to get out of their contract with Victory (Victory Record's contract stipulates that any band cannot move to another independent label, only a major one.)

Other people speculate that being forced to support "My Chemical Romance" on tour may of been the final straw.
