British duo The Ting Tings snatched the number one slot in the U.K singles chart yesterday dislodging the Madonna/Justin Timberlake collaboration "Four Minutes".
"That's Not My Name" has been knocking about for a while, having a muted release last year, but the increased hype and exposure sent the track straight to the top-spot this time around.
The happy news comes the day before the duo's debut album "We Started Nothing" attempts a similar feat within the album charts. There has been a dark cloud amidst the silver lining for the twosome though as a former friend drew their anger for selling limited edition copies of the single without their permission.
The track was released on a limited run of 500 vinyls last year but it is understood that a friend of the pair kept back a fair few for themselves. The Ting Tings said the venture had "nothing to do with us as we would never charge that [amount of] money for our singles". They then said the ex-friend was just cashing in on their success.
Some might say this person had faith in them, to hold back those copies, sure that they would be worth something one day, £60 a pop on eBay to be precise.
