As we reported earlier this week, it seems that the original story that was broke by TorrentFreak has proved to be true and UK police have started to make arrests in the OiNK case.

Six arrests have so far been made and they represent the first ever arrests in the UK in connection with file sharing offences which has always previously been classified as a civil offence.

Site founder Alan Ellis, 24, was arrested shortly after the site's closure on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and copyright infringement, but the new arrests are significant since the alleged users did not actively run or administer the site.

OiNK was shut down last October after an investigation was instigated by the IFPI in association with Cleveland Police.
