Mere days after the announcement about the new album from Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, RATM front-man Zack de la Rocha has stepped up with his own long, long, long, long long-awaited solo(-ish) material.
It's been over five years since the singer first promised a solo effort, a promise which only saw the release of one song entitled "March of Death", a track recorded with the assistance of DJ Shadow on production duties.
Now de la Rocha is teaming up with ex-The Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore. The two of them will be working under the alias of One Day As a Lion.
The first release will be in the form of a five-track self-titled E.P on July 22. Describing their work together, the band stated, "It's a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socio-economic realities it attempts to mask." one assumes he is referring to how Barbie can afford all those nice clothes when she has neither a job, nor a husband.
